Flash, ah-ah, the brand the nation loves!

header-2Flash is one of the UK’s biggest names in the arena of household cleaning and is a brand which, as you can probably testify, many customers lean towards when in need of a efficient, high quality cleaning product. But what exactly is that that makes Flash stand out from the rest?

The history of Flash

flash-bathroom-graphicFlash has been owned by multinational consumer goods giant Proctor & Gamble since 1958, but the cleaner has some pretty interesting beginnings.

It was originally created by a marine ship cleaning businessman, Linwood Burton, and a Sri Lankan entrepreneur, Mathusan Chandramohan. Designed specifically to tackle the deeply embedded grime and grease commonly found on ships, it was very powerful yet less aggressive and hazardous to ship cleaners than the other caustic cleansers of the time.

flash-kitchen-graphicIn most other parts of the world, Flash is known as Mr Clean, a brand name which already existed in the UK, making it necessary for P&G to re-brand. What made the product soar in popularity was its memorable ads and catchy jingles – “Flash gets rid of dirt and grime and grease in just a minute, Flash will clean your whole house and most things you find in it!” Flash quickly became synonymous with black and white tiled floors which became sparkling clean with just a simple wipe with a Flash-covered sponge, cloth or mop.

Even now in 2016, where the brand’s latest ad involves a dog singing its heart out to a classic Queen track (“Flash! Ah-ah… Cleans up the impossible!”), Flash knows how to create ads which grab attention and showcase the excellent cleaning power of their products. And the pristine black and white tiled floors continue to make an appearance!

Flash’s products today

flash-wipe-goAlthough Flash originally started as one product that could clean anything, the brand has since branched out to create an extensive line of specialist products for different surfaces and environments.

The Flash Bathroom and Kitchen sprays are incredibly popular, no doubt because they’re so easy to use – simply spray, wipe and rinse.

flash-with-bleach-graphicThe Flash Spray with Bleach is another popular choice for consumers who are looking for more powerful cleaning than ever before. The addition of bleach to the classic Flash formula helps to ensure all those nasty germs are obliterated, which is perfect for bathrooms and toilets.

Finally, we can’t help but mention the wonderful Flash Wipe & Go cleansing wipes, which have helped to influence a whole new variety of products in the household cleaning world. Consumers are looking for fast, convenient cleaning solutions, and Wipe & Go offers exactly that with the efficient cleaning power of Flash – all with a delightfully refreshing lemony scent. No wonder your customers love it so much!
